Special Tactics RTS Multiplayer update


The work on multiplayer part of Special Tactics RTS is still in progress.

I have built a server which is able to handle such actions:

  • Create game ✔
  • Join game ✔
  • Handle disconnect ✔
  • Rejoin game ✔
  • Leave game ✔
  • Issue Move / AttackMove / Attack command, supporting local shift-queue ✔
  • Synchronise unit positions over different clients connected ✔
  • Target / Damage / Kill an unit consistently over different clients connected ✔

To do:

  • Track game winner (when enemy has lost all of his units) ✔
  • Handle projectiles for shooting units ✔
  • Build spawning buildings
  • Spawn units
  • Determine game goals
  • Add multiplayer resources (gold)
  • Create resouce nodes on the map and ability to collect them
  • Allow spending resources on building and units
  • Create multiplayer maps
  • Add game search queue and matchmaking ladder (transfer most of the code from my Steel Civilizations game)
  • Create more building and unit types for multiplayer
